The Hidden Gem Of Kauai Travel
Paradise-like destinations abound in the Pacific. And while you explore Hawaii, do not leave out the other islands, such as Maui, Oahu and Kauai. Appropriately, this one is named the garden island. Before your Kauai travel, be sure to map it out, avoid muddy roads, and stay on course. The roads well-traveled are better to stick to, although, contrary to popular belief, one does not need a four-wheel drive to travel these islands.
Produce kiosks are strategically placed around the region, with farmers selling their crops, such as bananas, mangos, lemons, papayas, limes and lychee nuts. The villagers are friendly and eager to please the vacationers.
And do not forget about the fabulous fish that is caught fresh for restaurants around the island. There is Ahi, Ono, and MahiMahi.
River kayaking is among the things to do on your list of fun times in this very special place! Other than the Napali Coast, the rivers are fairly tame and one does not need experience to enjoy this sport, since there are no waterfalls to jump with the kayak, and no rapids. This is just another great way to enjoy the scenery.
If you are into scenic vacations, Kauai also offers a ten-mile stretch of roadway, called Highway 560. It is located in Princeville and offers many historic, very narrow bridges that are worth the wait in passing through them. This road has also been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Your vehicle of choice need not be a 4-wheel drive, unlike what some will suggest. Most of these roads have enough traffic to keep them safe and easy to navigate. You can rent one either at the airport, or on the outskirts of town for a cheaper rate.
And as far as insurance is concerned, the rental offices will try to sell you temporary insurance, but the fact of the matter is that you may already have it in your permanent policy. Check on this, before you purchase insurance that is not needed. You can also expect to pay more for gas than the average prices in the States. The seat-belt law is strictly enforced, and watch for pedestrians as jay-walking is a common practice.
Prominent signs are displayed to let you know of scenic points and visitors attractions, and if it rains, have no worries. There is a beautiful rainbow to follow every time!
